Great Smiles
What is a COMPREHENSIVE  EXAM

My favorite exam to complete for patients is the comprehensive exam
It’s like solving a mystery, because it requires finding multiple clues and putting everything together in a logical sequence.

Comprehensive exams can replace initial exams, or can be completed any time on an existing patient.

Patients may acknowledge dental problems that are symptomatic for them or that they have been told about previously, or they might just want to know about the existing asymptomatic or potential problems in their mouths.

For example, a patient may know they have a fractured tooth, because they can feel it with their tongue, or it hurts to bite.  It’s also possible that a person doesn’t know that they have a fractured tooth, because it might be small, or in an area that they can’t reach.

Comprehensive exam:  patient driven, dental problems acknowledged, new or established patient, always accompanied by records

Keep smiling!
